Good morning. After graduation, a young man decided to enter the field of journalism. He went to see a Chief editor of a local newspaper and became the apprentice there. His first assignment was to cover the merdeka celebration event on a ship at Port Klang. Being a newcomer to the field the young man dashed quickly to Port Klang with his camera and notepad. Few hours later, the young man was back to his office. He looked very disappointed and very tired. While all other reporters were very busy typing their reports, our young man looked lost . Then some senior reporters came over to him and asked him what had happened. With tears rolling down his cheek, the young man told that there was no merdeka day celebration on the ship as scheduled. No one in the ship noticed that there was a hole in the ship and the ship sunk. As such the merdeka day celebration on the ship was cancelled. He is afraid to see the chief editor because he has no NEWS. When the other senior reporters heard this story the quickly scrambled across their table and grab their camera and ran to the scene of the event. Ladies & Gentleman, Even though this story is funny it teaches us that it is very important for us to know our opportunity. Sunken ship story could have made a BIG HEADLINE news for the young man and could have launched his career well in journalism. The young man only saw his problem but not his opportunity. We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations. Sometimes opportunities knocks, but most of the time it sneaks up and then quietly steals away. In our working environment do we see opportunities or problems? For this weekend please ponder on this words. Thank you and have a great day ahead. |
