Good Morning,

This incident happened about 14 years ago. I went to visit a friend to his farm in Sungai Tiram a small rural village about 50 km from JB town. This visit was a secret visit and no one in my home knew about it.

Well it was a secret because we are going to a pond to swim. This pond was a former mining area. The scenery surrounding the area was so captivating . The area was surrounded by green trees and the water of the pond was sky blue. The air in the area was so chill. I have not seen such a beautiful view in my life before.

Quickly without wasting any time we took off our cloths and jumped into the pond. We swam and laughed. As I was not a good swimmer, I stayed not far away from the bank. But as the time pasted I felt that I too should move into the middle of the pond where the fun was. As I got closer to the middle, I felt something pulling my leg and the next thing I know was I was drowning.

At that very moment, I felt that it was the last time I am going to be alive. Slowly water started to cover my nose, than my eyes and than the whole head. I am gone. The only thing I knew was that I did not struggle and let fate decide my destiny. Slowly I felt something pulling my hair and I found myself breathing again. My friend who was a good swimmer had pulled me out of the water and brought me to the land.

I still remember the look in his face. He was dead worried. I could have died on the ill-fated day of Feb 1989. Until now it is one of my well kept secrets and one of the darkest moment of my life.

From that day onwards, I started not take life for granted. I want to Love my Life and Live it.
